PHRYGIA. Temenothyrae. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Assarion (Orichalcum, 22 mm, 4.39 g, 7 h), Titianos, archiereus. Time of Gallienus, 253-260. KTICTHC THMЄNOC Laureate and draped bust of the eponymous founder Temenos to right. Rev. TITIANOC THMЄNOΘYPЄICI Hermes standing front, head to left, holding purse in his right hand and kerykeion in his left. BMC 18-19 (same dies). SNG München 484 (same dies). SNG von Aulock -. Very rare. Minor flan faults, otherwise, very fine.


The fact that the name of the archiereus is in the nominative and the ethnic in the dative indicates that this issue was paid for by Titianos as a form of euergetism to his polis.
